Kuratorenfürheung, Objektbiografien, Humboldt-Lab, Völkerkunde Museum Dahlem, Berlin



The event organized by the ARE offered the participants a closer look at the mechanisms of presentation of objects within the museum context in historical perspective and identified the possibilities for the future more transparent and open strategies of presentation. Exhibition curator, Margareta von Oswald told the difficult history of the exhibited museum objects from the African collection of the Dahlem Museum. The following discussion focussed on the methods of presentation of the museum collections, the peculiarities of design of exhibitions and the troubled history of the artifacts assembled in museum depots as well as ways of their exhibition in Humboldt Forum.
